KOMPAS.com – There’s something different on the 2020’s Disaster Risk Reduction Month (PRB) commemoration because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The PRB, which is commemorated every October 13, cannot be conducted in person.

Even so, the spirit to continue educating the public on the importance of disaster mitigation remains the priority. For this reason, Human Initiative initiates the Disaster Risk Reduction Virtual Exhibition 2020.

There are various attractive events at the exhibition, including webinar series on DRR entitled "Areas Have Action", photo exhibition with the theme of humanity, to videos covering previous humanitarian assistance program response activities in various disaster-affected areas in Indonesia.

Human Initiative also provides educational materials on reducing the risk of natural and non-natural disasters, including education on the prevention of Covid-19.

In organizing the exhibition, Human Initiative collaborates with various parties, from United Nations Office for The Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA Indonesia), National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB), to associations of interfaith humanitarian agencies.

The Human Initiative also collaborates with Indonesian Humanitarian Forum (HFI), Indonesian Philanthropic Association (PFI), and Zakat Forum (FOZ).

This exhibition is expected to become a new alternative of conveying information that is easily accepted by the public. Mainly in an effort to educate and recall various disasters that have occurred on Earth.

The event is also expected to raise awareness about the importance of understanding and responding to disaster situations that are prone to occur, especially in Indonesia.

For information, Disaster Risk Reduction Virtual Exhibition 2020 will last until December 2020. Click here to find out about the exhibition.
